Chapitre 1 : Le monde de l'entre-deux 5
Once summoned, Dream Monsters must obey the commands of the Dream Player who called them. They are forced to fight without regard for their own well-being. Whatever emotions they may carry, they are deemed irrelevant. Their sole purpose is to fulfill their given mission—that is the very meaning of their existence.
They do not concern themselves with whether they fight for "justice" or "evil." The orders from the Dream Player are absolute, and for them, being summoned is akin to a ritual of unwavering loyalty in the pursuit of victory.
Some accept this reality as the "fate of Dream Monsters", carrying out their roles without question. To them, Dream Monsters are nothing more than tools of battle, and allowing emotions to interfere is meaningless.
But Tuck was different.
He believed that Dream Monsters were living beings with emotions. They felt pain when wounded, frustration when defeated. To him, they were not just summoned entities—they had hearts, and their suffering should not be disregarded so easily.
Even if it was their fate, no one should have to endure such burdens forever. That was what Tuck believed.
That was why he devoted himself to understanding each Dream Monster’s unique personality and emotions. He made it his priority to care for both their minds and bodies with the utmost dedication. To Tuck, this care was more than just treatment—it was a way to offer them comfort, to be by their side, even if only a little.
"Lucy, I’m ready."
At Tuck’s call, Lucy, standing beside Drapunii, gave a short response.
"Okay."
She glanced at the wounds that Tuck had carefully cleaned and let out a small, impressed sigh.
"You’re ridiculously good at this. For someone in their third year, this is outstanding. With this level of care, we don’t have to worry about any side effects."
"Hurry and apply the Scarcura."
Tuck’s voice carried a hint of urgency.
"Yeah, yeah. Drapunii, this might sting a little, but bear with me, okay?"
Lucy wasn’t as brooding as Tuck. Still, she never neglected the emotions of Dream Monsters. She treated them with care, and perhaps that was why she and Tuck had worked together so well for so long.
"Alright, all done. You were really brave for such a small body," Lucy said with a smile as she finished the treatment.
"If you rest for twenty-four hours, the wounds should heal completely."
"That’s a relief… but still…"
Tuck trailed off, letting out a quiet sigh.
"You’re way too gloomy," Lucy remarked with an exasperated sigh. "You’re not the one who’s hurt, so if you keep looking like that, this little guy’s gonna start worrying about you too."
"...Sorry."
"Seriously, how long are you gonna sulk? Get yourself together—we need to report to the doctor."
"…Right."
Prompted by Lucy, Tuck gently stroked Drapunii’s small body and whispered, "You did great."
Then, leaving the Third Subdivision behind, he headed to Dr. Ken’s office to deliver his report.
